Art Nouveau grandeur with a wave pool and a facade that stops traffic.
Built inside the Gellért Hotel in 1918, these baths represent the peak of Hungarian Art Nouveau — a soaring hall of Zsolnay tiles, Roman-style colonnades, and stained-glass skylights filtering light onto the thermal pools below. The outdoor wave pool, added in 1927, was one of the world's first artificial wave pools and still operates every summer.

An insider's tip
The indoor main pool is the architectural highlight — arrive as it opens at 6am to photograph the empty hall before crowds arrive.
Don't leave without
Spend time in the ornate indoor thermal hall. The colonnaded pool room is one of the most beautiful interior spaces in Europe.
