An Ottoman dome from 1566 with a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the Danube.
Built under Ottoman rule in 1566, Rudas is the most atmospheric bathhouse in Budapest. The original Turkish dome — pierced by eight star-shaped skylights — shelters a central octagonal pool unchanged for four centuries. A modern extension adds a rooftop infinity pool with one of the best views in the city: the Danube, Chain Bridge, and Buda Castle aligned at eye level.

An insider's tip
The historic pool section (under the original Ottoman dome) runs gender-separated sessions on weekdays. These feel genuinely unchanged from the 16th century.
Don't leave without
Book the rooftop pool at night. The Chain Bridge lit up from the hot water, alone, is worth the trip to Budapest.
