Closed for 60 years, restored to perfection. The most beautiful hammam interior in the world.
Built in 1580, closed for six decades, and reopened in 2012 after an eight-year restoration, Kılıç Ali Paşa is widely considered the most beautifully restored Ottoman hammam in existence. The camlekân (changing room) soars under a vaulted ceiling; the hararet (hot room) is a marvel of carved marble and stained glass. The restoration used the same stone sources as the original — Marmara marble — and maintained the original hypocaust underfloor heating system.

Booking is essential — it's limited by design. The hararet room with its carved marble basins and coloured-glass ceiling is the finest hammam interior you will see.

Book the extended ritual. The quality of the attendants' technique here is calibrated to the building's prestige — it's the best kese scrub in Istanbul.
